'Record' is a track that explores the tension of depending on something while knowing it can hurt you. The lyrics use the hospital room to express this tension.

The song describes a patient who feels lost and uninformed, but knows they must do as they're told by the other figure. The language used is totally submissive to the other party, until the patient is physically unable to get up when the other figure wants to kick them out of the room.

The medical imagery is inspired by the band’s own experience with the medical system, the recent Cervical Check scandal in Ireland, and the ongoing fight for reproductive rights around the world.
